View full detailsDuring the pandemic, we've been hearing a lot of customers tell us of experiencing hair loss. If you’ve been going through an unprecedented hair loss phase, you’re not alone. It turns out there's a common thread among many those reposting of hair loss: chronic stress. Enter this phenomenon called Telogen Effluvium a.k.a. Shock Hair Loss. Telogen Effluvium usually occurs on the top of the scalp, but ..the good news? It's completely reversible. I'm sharing a few helpful, hair-growing tips from experts to get those tresses back. Tip: Choose smart supplements. A multivitamin can help bridge your nutrition gap. According to Dr. Khetarpal of The Cleveland Clinic, you should take a multi with B-vitamins, zinc and at least 2,000 international units of vitamin D. Both B-vitamins and zinc play a role in hair follicle health, while vitamin D may help make new ones, she says.
Tip: Up your healthy fats. Omega 3's naturally occur in foods such as seafood, seeds & nuts, and avocados, but you can also supplement with fish oil. It's critical to cell health and is thought to make your scalp healthier.
Tip: It starts from within. Your hair is one of the primary ways your body signals that something is off. Stress, hormonal imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies can compromise it. But the most important rule, try not to stress out about your hair loss. And be patient: Hair growth takes time—usually half an inch a month.
Tip: Eat Your Protein. According to Cleveland Clinic's dermatologist, Wilma Bergfeld, "Because hair follicles are made of mostly protein, don’t skip this vital nutrient. A lack of protein has been linked to hair loss. Dr. Bergfeld suggests women eat a little bit of low-fat, red meat a couple times a week. “This captures your protein and other vital nutrients.” And if you're vegan, make sure to add a Vitamin B Complex to your daily routine along plant-based protein sources.
Tip: Wash less frequently. "How frequently you wash your hair really depends on the type of hair you have. But regardless of your hair type, in general, washing too frequently can cause hair to become dry and brittle. Don’t overdo shampoo, but you should wash your scalp at least twice per week," advises Dr. Bergfeld. Also! Don't overdue dry shampoo, it can cause your hair follicle to be dehydrated.
